The latest collection from Levi’s is one we’re drooling over. With new streetwear-inspired fits, logo sweats, and graphic tees we can already see ourselves chilling in them all week long.
To find out more about the collection, we spoke with Levi’s Global VP of Men’s Design, Janine Chilton-Faust on how the new pieces came to be.
Hey Janine! Thanks for chatting with us. We’re keen to know; how did you get inspiration for the pieces in the collection?
Our design team loves visiting our very own Levi Strauss & Co Archives, which is an absolute treasure trove of ideas. This season we particularly loved the inspiration coming from designs of the ’84 Olympics, the graphics have multi-colour stripes which tie nicely with the rainbow trend of late. ’80s and ’90s sportswear and ’90s-era streetwear branding also play a role in motivating new optimistic design, logos & silhouettes for the future. We like the juxtaposition of clean colour and pattern with strong neutrals styled with a mix of street and sport.
Levi’s are always the most wearable pieces in our wardrobes – are these pieces the same and how are you hoping the customer is going to wear them?
Our Sneaker jean collection provides a nice foundation to outfit with. As the sneaker trend continues, consumers consume a variety of sneaker styles. Whether it is the hi-ball jean to wear with hi-tops or the low-ball to wear with court shoes, they can roll, stack, cut or cuff to their preference. Layering on the new basics whether it be our new 2-horse multi-colour sportswear logo hoodie or tee with a cosy Sherpa trucker jacket.
Why is Levi’s a must-have for a young person’s wardrobe?
Levi’s has a place in everyone’s wardrobe. Levi is a brand that is iconic, authentic and always trusted. Any young person can find their fit, make them their own and feel confident! Levi respects and engages with a diverse, creative culture and is a brand that embraces all.
What’s your favourite piece in the collection?
I can never name just one… My favourite jean is the Hi-Ball Roll this season, in a nice easy worn indigo wash. The ringer tee with the rainbow stripe & Logo is my favourite tee, but I also love the peach photographic from our archives!
