Best known for his unruly hair and the quickest fitness tips in the game, Joe Wicks aka The Body Coach is setting his sights even further.
Already a pro on most social platforms, The Body Coach has just launched on the new social phenomenon, Tik Tok. Speaking all things Tik Tok, fitness and nutrition, Joe Wicks shares more of his tips and goals with Topman.
I’m a man on a mission, here to help and inspire people to feel good about themselves, not just through healthy eating but through goal-setting & self-belief. When I was growing up didn’t have big ambitions to achieve much in life, but when you start to achieve things, you realise the power of positive thinking. I want to inspire people and make them realise they can achieve more than they realise, especially with health & fitness. I want to be remembered as the man who got Britain’s youth exercising and happy, not someone who sold loads of books and fitness videos!
I’ve always enjoyed exercise from a young age but my diet was terrible. It was only when I started eating healthily that I realised what good food could do for you in terms of your mood, your positivity and your productivity. Once you realise this, it’s easy to stick to it.
I’m a massive believer in home hit sessions – short intense workouts. 20-25 minutes a day is much more sustainable than going to the gym. I have built my YouTube channel on that premise because I believe that, long-term, people can be healthier through home workouts – burpees, squats, press ups, lunges etc.. I call them ‘no equipment, no excuses’ workouts – you can train anywhere, anytime. No equipment needed, just your bodyweight!
Spinach & Pea pesto breakfast muffins– ready in about 15 minutes, you can snack on them, take them to work, heat them up the next day. My approach is to ‘prep like a boss’. Like batch cooking, it sets you up for the day, so you don’t have to rely on fast-food.
They’re so easy to make. In a bowl, mix 5 whole eggs, chopped spring onion, chopped spinach, frozen peas, salt & pepper, green pesto & crumbled feta cheese. Whisk it all up and stick it in a muffin tin. Bake in the oven for 12 minutes on 180 degrees. Bosh!
To improve my flexibility and mobility because we tend to wait until we’re injured to really take care of our joints and movement. Trying to incorporate yoga and dynamic movement into your training is so important for things like posture.
Find something you enjoy, an exercise that you actually look forward to doing. Then just be patient. You’re not going to get results overnight, it takes consistency and a balanced diet.
It’s really simple. You need good running gear, good trainers and shorts, cotton t-shirts and a range of dry-fit and heat-tech gear for summer and winter. Easy.
Tik Tok is a global community that inspires people across the world to share videos of their passion and creativity. It’s easy to use and gives you the tools to create fun videos that lower the barrier to content creation – which is why I love it.
I’ve just realised how much fun this platform is. It’s a place to be creative without taking yourself too seriously. I love that. I want to reach as many people as I can and spread a message of positivity through fitness and well-being.
Stuff to inspire people, get kids active, make people laugh. There are some really fun tricks on there that make high-quality video production really easy.
@thebodycoach Check it out!
This year, I’m travelling around the country from Scotland to the South coast exercising with 10,000 children, to inspire a generation of kids to get them active and happy. You can an also expect to see me do lots of content around my new baby, Indy. I’ll be doing ‘Wean In 15’ – healthy food for babies, a book that I have coming out next year.
