Step aside, Dominos. We’ve just learned how to make amazing potato wedges from scratch (and they’re kind of unreal). Interested? Here’s how…
At TOPMAN, our staff have been hot on home activities, sharing how to workout, how to make those internet-famous whipped iced coffees, and now, how to make really easy potato wedges from scratch. When all you need is potatoes, oil and seasoning, this is the ultimate lockdown snack or side for everyone.
Our Junior Editor Lauren Noble has shared her recipe below. Ready to turn into a couch potato for the foreseeable? Same.
Step 1: First, you need to wash your potatoes and get rid of any knobbly bits.
Step 2: Once washed, you need to cut them into shape. Do this by cutting them down the middle lengthwise, then, with the potato half face-down, cut a wedge at an angle, and then again. Repeat with the other half, then with the rest of your potatoes.
Step 3: Once you have your wedges, boil them in water for 8 minutes. Preheat your oven to 200˚C/400˚F/gas 6/180º Fan.
Step 4: Once boiled, drain. Leave the wedges in the saucepan and add the oil straight in. Add enough that it covers all the wedges.
Step 5: Still in the saucepan, add all the seasoning you want. You can’t really get this wrong, so just go for it. Mix around carefully so that each wedge has good coverage.
Step 6: Cover a baking tray with foil and place your wedges on evenly.
Step 7: Cook them in the middle of the oven for 30 minutes, turning in-between. If you like your wedges crispier, leave them in a little longer. Likewise, take them out sooner if you prefer softer wedges.
