Design My Night’s 10 Things To Do in 2019

It’s no secret that 2018 was packed with its fair share of gloom. The World Cup happened (need we say more), the globe was torn in two over debates of whether a 0.5 second clip said “yanny” or “laurel” and the ‘Punk Turtle’ that went viral for having the ability to breathe through its genitals became the 30th listed evolutionarily distinct and globally endangered reptile.

2019 is our year, surely. To make sure we fill it with plenty of cool things – at least enough to drown out the nonsense – we got the low-down from Design My Night to bring you 10 things to do this year.

Visit London’s Smallest Bar – London

Size matters? Not at this London bar. The Brig is only accessible via a four-digit code entered on the right door on the right street in just the right place. This hidden nook only has space for 4 thirsty guest meaning you’ll not only enjoy the chitter chatter of chums alone, but your private bartender will also knock up impressive drinks to a playlist of your choosing; talk about bespoke.

Get Tickets To The UK’s Biggest Craft Beer Festival – London

The popularity of craft beer reached an all-time high in 2018, and CBR 19 (Craft Beer Rising) know it. Back this February for another weekend of pints and expert brews from some of the UK’s most renowned names, Craft Beer Rising is landing at East London’s Old Truman Brewery with street food, DJ and over 150 breweries in town.

Hit Bullseye At An Interactive Darts Bar- Manchester

What was once a game reserved for beer bellies has now turned into a fully-fun evening out, and we have Flight Club to thank for that. Taking darts to a whole other level, head to the Flight Club fairground-themed site in Manchester this year for a night of pints, cocktails and pizza alongside some of the most advanced dartboards in the biz.

The Bar Dedicated To Lego – London

From the agonising pain when you stepped on a piece to mega creations in your bedroom, who could forget the toy life-changer that is Lego? With giant sculptures built brick by brick and themed cocktails and DJs come the evening, The Brick Bar is a trip down memory lane that you’ll find hard to Lego of.

Travel Down The Thames on A Silent Disco Boat Party – London

So you’ve weaved through Soho’s streets, got blisters at the Natural History Museum and worked your way around the London Eye, but you’ve never given the river a go? Add a party trip down the Thames to your London to-do list this year as Silent Sounds: On The Thames is giving you a way to get to know the water and its landmarks that little bit better.

Try Bottomless Brunch At A World Famous Ball Pit – London

There are bars… and then there are ball pit bars. If you’re looking to level-up your brunch antics this 2019, head to Ballie Ballerson, one of London’s newest, most famous party sites. Here you’ll find unlimited pizza and prosecco whilst throwing yourself headfirst into a selection of ball pits that are home to more than a million (yes, a million) balls in total.

Prevent A Zombie Apocalypse – London

While some predicted that 2012 would be the end of the world as we know it, Design My Night predicts a zombie apocalypse in 2019, and it just so happens to be your job to help save humanity. Hailed as one of London’s most unique escape room experiences, evade a brain-eater and solve puzzles at Trapped In A Room with a Zombie and make sure get out before you become zombie-chow.

Drink Like a Shelby At A Peaky Blinders-Inspired Bar – Manchester

Looking to don a flat-cap and sip like a Shelby at one of the coolest themed bars in Manchester? By order of Design My Night, you are. This Peaky Blinders MCR beer hall come cocktail bar will not only have you knocking back betting slip bevvies, but you’ll also enjoy pints surrounded by mega pictures of Birmingham’s most notorious TV gang.

Attend This Gigantic Cocktail Festival – Edinburgh

Like big cocktails and you cannot lie? Then it’s off to bonnie Edinburgh with you this year. Taking place at The Hub in May, Cocktails In The City has pooled together 16 of the best cocktail bars in town for your drinking pleasure. Expect street food, unique pop-up creations and lush libations as you get more than a little familiar with the specially-created menus on offer.

Get Your Wing Fix At a Restaurant Dedicated To All Things Chicken – Glasgow

Absurd Bird has now opened in Glasgow following the London, Leeds, Bath and Exeter destinations. A wing-adoring restaurant, this place promises nothing short of your favourite chicken washed down with copious amounts of cocktails. Head to this plucky little spot to polish off bottomless wings for a pocket-friendly £12.
