The most cost-effective way to refresh your look is with well-selected accessories. BANDANAS

There’s no doubt about it, bandanas are on-trend in a big way. I’ve seen them tied around heads, knotted around wrists and I even spotted one bound around the calf of an in-store mannequin (although I think this look may be the last to catch on). The best way to style your bandana, though, is around your neck. Either nonchalantly neckerchief it with a partially unbuttoned shirt, or tidily knot it under a crewneck t-shirt or sweater – a look regularly sported by Topman’s Creative Director, Gordon Richardson.

FORMAL CHAINS

Chains in any capacity – either round the neck or hanging from trousers – have long been associated with streetwear. However, this season, we’re increasingly seeing chains adopted into more formal outfits. By formal, I don’t necessarily mean a full suit – although a subtle chain hanging by your side looks great – but smarter trousers, shorts and chinos. You can achieve this look with either a trouser chain, or a neckchain that you clip to your belt loops…we even have a pocket watch on a chain, which works well too.

LAYERED WRISTWEAR

There’s a simple trick to mastering this look: more is better. It’s really about the layering, so add beaded bracelets to leather straps to festival-inspired wristbands – the more eclectic your wristwear becomes, the stronger the look. It’s a styling tip that can be incorporated into both casual and formal – and it’s the easiest way to give an outfit a bohemian twist, a big trend for the season ahead.

WIDE-BRIMMED HATS

If spring was all about rolled-up beanies, summer was all about snapbacks, then autumn is going to be all about wide-brimmed hats. I recommend you get ahead of the trend by investing in yours early. The style is unashamedly rock n’ roll, so wide-brimmed hats look their best when styled with ultra skinny jeans, sheer knits and Chelsea boots. This look isn’t about being too groomed – so it particularly suits guys with messy or longer hair. If your personal style is a bit smarter, wear your hat with a skinny suit and a bandana knotted around the neck.

LIBERTY PRINT ACCESSORIES

Here’s an exclusive first look at our latest formal accessories range – a limited collection of ties, bow ties and pocket squares created in iconic Liberty Art Fabrics. Liberty, located on Carnaby Street in London, is famous for its floral prints – and we’ve handpicked 14 quintessentially English patterns for our range. I’m a huge fan of the pocket squares, they’re the best way to add a dash of colour to a blazer or to add some extra personality to a suit. To get your pocket square looking its best, simply fold it into a triangle, nip the two far ends together, and tuck into your breast pocket.
