Introducing Topman Selvedge Denim, our new range of durable jeans created using heritage production methods. We’ve used long-lasting, heavyweight denim that can be worn every day – in fact, the jeans will look better with every wear, as they take on a unique, personalised fit.
The word selvedge comes from ‘self-edge’. This means the denim edges are woven with a clean finish and will not unravel, which can occur with regular denim. You can identify a selvedge jean by looking inside the hem at the outseam.
Raw selvedge denim is often characterised as being a tighter, denser weave compared to non-selvedge. The density gives the denim a premium look and feel with its own unique character that’s inimitable.
Many denim enthusiasts will wear their raw denim every day for at least six months to a year before washing. The longer you wear your selvedge jeans, the better they will look, giving the denim personality.
