The world is full of distinctive style, but where do you even begin in picking out the best dressed for outfit inspiration? Thankfully Australian photographer Giuseppe Santamaria has scoured the globe snapping away at its most stylish men, saving you the flight fees, turbulence and jetlag.

Here we pick out a few of our favourite looks – timeless and on-trend – and explain how and why you should be wearing them this season.

Winter means cold, cold means rain, rain means ruined hairstyle. Cheat the system with sartorial headwear, the life hack that saves you time in the morning doing your hair and makes you twice as refined. They’re traditionally worn with smarter attires such as shirts and waistcoats, but they’ve been adopted by guys into streetwear. So ditch the beanie and add a fedora to your bomber jackets and longer length tees.

You don’t just buy a leather jacket, you invest in one, as they’ll always look good whatever the weather, location or year. From James Dean to Bruce Springsteen to Ryan Gosling, everyone who’s anyone owns a leather jacket, it’s as iconic as the Coca Cola symbol. Harking back to the rebellious youth of the ‘50s, we suggest going for a gritty, vintage style biker jacket over a pair of skinny black jeans.

A reliable overcoat is essential for the brutal cold months of winter as you’ll practically cocoon yourself in it. So one thing is for certain: it’s got to look good. Overcoats bridge the style gap between smart and casual, unlike a lot of other coats such as parkas and duffle coats. So if you want to wear jeans and a plain tee, you can. But if you want another layer to add to your checked suit, you can do that too. The options are endless.

Gone are the days where you just dressed up for dinner and special occasions. Now we’re seeing more and more young men dappering up just to nip out for a latte. Don’t feel like you always have to commit to a full suit at all times though, as separating your smarts is right on-trend. Wearing a well fitted navy blazer with a dark t-shirt and a pair of sartorial joggers (yes, you read right) gives the timeless suit a modern update.
