January Street Style

By Jamie Carson, Digital Editorial Assistant | Jan 2016

What happens when you put on the coolest event in menswear in the coolest city in the world? A sight so stylish it’s been known to make eyes bleed and angels cry, that’s what. OK, a tad dramatic, but London Collections Men has to be the best place in the world for men’s street style, and AW16 had some absolutely corking outfits.

Shades Of Green

A trend we highlighted in our SS16 preview, shades of green were popping up all over the city in streetwear and formal wear - showcased here by male model and unreal cheekbones owner Oliver Cheshire. Finally the colour has branched out of the military trend and is getting the recognition by itself without being surrounded by a bunch of gold buttons.

Hoodies

It may seem like a weird thing to highlight since it’s such a basic item, but just look how awesome these guys look wearing a hoodie. The archetypal suit and tie is dying when it comes to menswear shows, with front rows over the weekend being overtaken by reworked casuals. Sometimes it is the simplest things that make the biggest difference.

Oh look, it’s another trend we predicted that everyone is wearing. You’d think we were fashion experts or something, right? We can’t take all the credit though, as it’s Kanye West’s recent street style spottings that have brought nude colours into the limelight in dishevelled sweatshirts, premium bomber jackets and more.

Slouchy

Is the death of the skinny fit really here? We wouldn’t go that far, but slouchy, relaxed fits are becoming big news in suiting, trousers and overcoats. Even David Gandy and Tinie Tempah were spotted wearing their sartorial garms baggy, but we thought we should show you how the regular guy is wearing them. No offence intended if you’re a model or rap star.

All Black Everything

A big look this season, last season and every season before that, worn by everyone from Lou Reed to Skepta. Although it’s mostly associated with a rock look, this really is a colour that doesn’t alienate and subculture; it looks just as cool in a streetwear coach jacket as it does in a leather jacket. Tip: don’t forget your accessories, go all out noir with your backpack and hat too.
