If you’re heading to prom this year, you must, above all else, remember this one golden rule: never rent your tuxedo. It’s just not worth it. Not because rented tuxedos tend to be ill-fitting, over-priced and, yes, smelly – but because the classic tux is about so much more than just a one night fling. The real value of a
tuxedo comes after prom, when you can experiment with breaking it up and integrating it into your everyday wardrobe – the trousers look great with simple tees, and the jacket looks spot-on paired with ripped, skinny jeans.
Known for its golden beaches, around-the-clock party scene and picturesque rainforests, Rio de Janeiro pretty much has the lot. Add to that the glorious weather, street-side barbecues and the small matter of a World Cup, and it becomes an obvious decision to place Rio at the head of your must-visit list.
It’s finally happened - this summer we’re going to see more prints on men than on women. Our tip for nailing the trend is to stock up on short sleeve tropical print shirts.
Our favourite print-masters, Hype, have recently launched their own footwear range - and we can’t get enough of their graphic flip flops (and at only £16, we’ve already bought a few pairs each).
It’s a well-known fact that UK festivals have two weather settings: ‘monsoon’ and ‘unbearably hot’. If you happen to experience the latter, rejoice. But also get yourself some rock ’n’ roll-ready denim shorts.
‘So Now You Know’, The Horrors. Set to appear at various festivals around the world this summer, The Horrors are big favourites at Topman HQ. Their latest track - taken from new album, Luminous - is a hazy, atmospheric epic that instantly puts us in mind of late afternoons in sunny/muddy fields.
‘On the Road’, Jack Kerouac. This iconic novel, penned by the leader of the Beat Generation, was published in ‘57 but its appeal remains fresh as ever. Perfect for those of us that dream about road trips around the US.
Whatever type of holiday you’re on, there’s no excuse not to invest in a new pair of shades this summer. We recommend some 90s-inspired round lenses.
If you’re going to be moonlight partying on an exotic beach, you need the threads to do the occasion justice. A bold design vest is just the ticket.
INmusic, Croatia, 23rd-25th June. With The Black Keys, Foals and Jagwa Ma already on the bill, you don’t really need much else. INmusic’s location, however, is just as impressive as its line up – it’s set on the shores of Lake Jarun, just outside Zagreb, so you can relax in scenic surroundings before taking in any music. The festival’s drinks, food and tickets are also noted for being very reasonably priced!
